In 2018, the city of Paraibuna became a MIT (Municipality of Tourist Interest) and in 2021 a Tourist Resort. Due to its rustic characteristics, its people, culture, and natural beauty, such as forests, rivers, and reservoirs, the region is, in fact, a heritage to be preserved, thus conserving its intrinsic characteristics in light of its rural tourism potential.
COMTUR has been doing important work in the tourism history of the Paraíba Valley, uniting and integrating services and products with the local population in order to live up to its status as a Tourist Resort.
It holds monthly meetings, cooperating with the organization of events and outlining guidelines for the future of tourism in the city of Paraibuna. Its president in 2024 is Sandra Claro, and it supports companies, institutions, and individuals in their projects focused on the tourism development of the region.
