Update to the Mapping of Native Fruit Producers of the Atlantic Forest

The project “Updating the Mapping of Native Fruit Producers of the Atlantic Forest” aimed to update the survey conducted in 2021 of native fruit producers in the Atlantic Forest, recording registration information and updated data on the species of native fruits cultivated by producers in the region, including the number of individuals, weight, and other relevant information. In this edition, 40 producers distributed across 15 municipalities were updated, with Paraibuna standing out with 11 mapped producers. Producers from the municipalities of Caçapava, Cruzeiro, Cunha, Guararema, Jacareí, Natividade da Serra, Pindamonhangaba, Salesópolis, Santa Branca, São Francisco Xavier, São José dos Campos, São Luiz do Paraitinga, Tremembé, and Ubatuba also participated. This initiative has strengthened ties with producers, who have been actively participating in theoretical and practical training, such as the course on the management and pruning of native fruit trees. Furthermore, the creation of a network for the joint distribution of processed native fruit products is underway, stimulating income generation and the conservation of the Atlantic Forest's biodiversity. Approximately eight producers are also collaborating on other institute projects, expanding the impact of the actions and strengthening initiatives to promote the value of native fruits and sustainable agriculture.

EAMA Project - Forest-Friendly School - nurturing Sociobiodiversity in Paraibuna

The "Atlantic Forest Friendly School" project, carried out by the H&H Fauser Institute with support from Auren and MGN, strengthens the connection between school meals, family farming, and environmental conservation. The initiative provides training for educators, school cooks, education staff, and rural producers, highlighting native fruits and the socio-biodiversity of the region. Through educational pathways, workshops, and educational materials, the project encourages healthy and sustainable eating practices in schools. In addition to stimulating local income, it contributes to the recognition of the cultural and ecological value of Atlantic Forest species.

Point of Sale Project

The Points of Sale are partnerships with restaurants and other commercial establishments aimed at promoting and selling native Atlantic Forest fruit products produced by producers in Paraibuna. Today, products based on native fruits can be found in 3 restaurants along the Rodovia dos Tamoios highway and at the Casa Linda Ice Cream Parlor. Another action was participation in creative fairs and food sector fairs, including the Paraibuna City Festival in partnership with Casa Linda. In addition to promoting native fruits, the fairs brought in partners who developed products based on these fruits. The objective of this initiative is to promote the fruits, strengthening the marketing and distribution of production from small producers in the region. In this first phase, 6 small producers were involved, a number that has already reached 10, who intend to join forces to increase the distribution of fruits. This initiative was carried out by the Fauser Institute in partnership with the Regenera Institute, Mombora, and TNC.
