Resistance Itineraries: Unveiling Community-Based Tourism in São Paulo

NATURE

Imagine stepping away from your daily routine to immerse yourself in a unique experience centered on the exchange of knowledge and cultures. Regenerative tourism not only involves the local community and boosts the economy but also values culture and the environment.

The “Chão Caipira” itinerary is a perfect example of this. Developed in Paraibuna, in the Paraíba Valley, this itinerary takes us to explore historic buildings, such as the water fountain and the municipal market. At the market, you can find local products, such as the traditional “pastel do manezinho,” a family recipe passed down from generation to generation. Additionally, you can visit rural farms, such as Sítio do Bello and Sítio do Jotinha. These farms not only produce fruits, fruit purees, jams, and cachaça in a sustainable manner but are also committed to the restoration of the Atlantic Forest.

By participating in this itinerary, you not only get to know the rural culture and savor the local cuisine, but you also contribute to the region’s sustainable development. It’s an opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local history, and enjoy an authentic experience.

It was through the social tourism training program developed by the H&H Fauser Institute that we discovered a new passion: learning to create itineraries that highlight culture and the environment, viewing tourism as a powerful tool for community development. Imagine the feeling of sharing the stories and knowledge of our people, knowing that you are contributing to the preservation of our cultural identity. It’s amazing how social tourism can connect such different people, fostering the exchange of experiences and mutual respect.
